Tuesday April 6th
Well as you know, if you’ve been reading my “daily blog”, I am also reading the “One Month To Live” book and doing its 30-day journey to coincide with this 30-day road trip. Let me go back to something that relates to what I am doing on Day #2 of that book.
Day #2 opens up with an anonymous quote, ie “Life isn’t measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away”. That is so my desire and prayer that when all is said and done with this trip, that God will have taken my breath away in His crazy provision of $16M. But I know that sounds ridiculous. But perhaps timely again, this is what the authors of that book, Kerry & Chris Shook, write about.
“The Someday Syndrome – Often we’re tempted to play it safe and settle for far less than we were made for. I know so many people whose favorite day of the week is Someday. (p.13). God did not design us simply to stand by and watch life pass as we wonder why we aren’t more fulfilled. God created us to take risks in faith and to conquer the giants that paralyze us with fear. Despite all the thousands of men in the Israelite army, David was the only person who had the courage to face the giant.” (p.14).
Now paraphrasing the authors. Saul in some way was saying to David – don’t be ridiculous; be reasonable in what you are attempting to do. You’re too small. You’re just a boy.
The authors continue on saying, but “David was operating on the basis of faith. If you’re operating in faith, all you can see is how small your giants are compared to God. The one thing that separated David from the thousands who were there that day was ridiculous faith. Let me humbly suggest that the only way you can slay the giants that stand between you and the life you were made for is ‘ridiculous faith’”. (p.14).
Well folks. I know. This entire trip is ridiculous! But I don’t want to just read about David or read so many other Bible stories or hear all those songs about faith or hear all those other modern day real life people who lived with courage and faith – I would so much personally want to live that way! So I am trying to live in a way, with ridiculous faith, where God could get incredible glory if He chooses to do so.
As I close for today – 5 for 5. Yes again another day does go by with God literally given me my 5th “daily sign”. But it’s way too long to explain except it has to do with meeting with folks I had not seen in a long time. When they hear about my trip (I call them the 3 musketeer ladies) one of them knows someone I know well in Montgomery Alabama. They grew up together. But she, one of the “praying musketeers” lives here in Brentwood. And she’s actually been to Ottawa before and was asking about Erin Persaud (someone from my church). Anyways – you had to be here for this one.
Today was busy all day in meetings, asking, seeking, knocking and connecting by phone, emails and in person. The same is planned for tomorrow.
Encouraging blog entry today Rick. May God receive the glory for all that happens. Blessings, Ryan
