Day #19 - "Exponential - Part 3" (Orlando, Fl)

Wednesday April 21st

Wow again! There is so much to say about today. I mean I may need “Road Tour Vision Trip #2” just to follow-up with all the networking contacts as a result of this Exponential Conference. But to me one of the highlight of today was when the Conference President, Dave Ferguson, was interviewing two well know authors and missiologists, Alan Hirsch and Ed Stetzer during one of the Plenary Session. They were talking about what it will take for church planters, church leaders and churches to become all they need to be for Jesus in being the transformational and incarnational agents they are meant to be in their community. Alan specifically said something to the effect that what the church needs today are leaders who are willing to risk failure. Leaders must take risks. New ways must be prayed for and followed. It’s a new day for the church and new paradigms must be taken. And if church leaders are going to be “stakeholders” in bringing about a new movement, then for sure they must they take risks, even if it means risking failure!

Well most of you know that since the last National Leadership Board I presided over last November, as we were heading not only into a new year but also a new decade, and understanding where we were at as far as “results” in our Canadian National Baptist Convention 2020 Vision, I just felt deep in my soul that something “radical” needed to happen in order to propel forward into this new decade. If you read again the purpose of this trip in the initial blog archives, you will read why this Luke 11 ASK Road Vision Trip is I believe God’s purpose and answer for me in attempting to bring about great synergy for our vision in Canada. And yes, the outcome of this trip is so great that I am indeed bound to fail unless God intervenes. Yes I believe God called me to this radical step of faith and calling me to be willing to risk failure.

As I was sitting listening to this interview, it was as if God was saying – “Rick, I see your faith! I see you trusting in me even if it didn’t make sense to go on this trip and be asking what you are asking, seeking and knocking. I see you being willing to let go of being the Lead Pastor after all those years. I see you being willing to let go of the security and “status” that came along with that. I see you being willing to be laughed at as other people hear about this crazy step of faith you have taken. I see you being willing to risk failure! At a boy Rick – I am proud of you just for being obedient regardless of the results”!

Well there is more about the Exponential Conference with potential exponential contacts and momentum to follow as a result. I’ll be working on those over the next few days. As far as the other highlight of today, check out tomorrow’s blog as I have run out of space for today.

Keep praying for God to unleash His Kingdom Resources for Eastern Canada!
