Day #12 - "Another Divine Appointment" (Montgomery, Al)

Wednesday April 14th

Wow what a day! Another “divine appointment” – perhaps even two today!

First I went to Faith FM Radio 89.1 and had a good 15-minute interview with Bob. The interview will be aired tomorrow (Thursday) between 1700 and 1800 – so prime time! (BTW: see picture below and no – Donna is not with me. I forgot to take a picture today for the blog and so I used an old one when Donna and I were interviewed 2 years ago when we were here for the Global Impact Celebration of FBC Montgomery. But since I am missing my wife a lot and she’s pretty cute, I thought this picture would work.)

So would you pray with me – that more “divine appointments” come from this interview – ie where someone in Alabama tomorrow will hear my heart and passion for the great need in 50% of Canada’s population and our vision for the ECMC in response to the need where God would actually lead that person to provide the first $1M for Eastern Canada!

I mean I believe I shared the entire vision as much as I could in 15 minutes. I shared the great need. I shared the great step of faith (or crazy) I have taken to prove it. I shared the uniqueness of the ECMC and why the strategic location in Ottawa. I mean I shared the highlights of what’s on our www.easterncanadamission.org

And yes I also shared the “craziness” of this “Luke 11 ASK Tour” in trying to raise $16M. I know – every time I say it reminds me how crazy it is and how I really stand to be laughed at or loose my reputation, especially as President of our CNBC.

But then I hear something tonight that becomes “divine appointment #2”.

I told you in my blog yesterday that the “Ken Freeman Festival” was starting at FBC Montgomery tonight. Well it actually started in 3 school assemblies today. The same idea – every day and every night – goes on till Sunday night (minus the school assemblies obviously on Saturday and Sunday).

Ken preached out of Luke 5. I remember preaching at Sequoia from that crazy, actually ridiculous, faith story. I mean 4 guys carrying their friend on a mat to see Jesus but the house is packed. They don’t go home discouraged or wait for another day. No they climb up the roof, peel some of the roof back and lower their paralytic friend to Jesus, interrupting what was going on. I mean we preach about these messages. But what do we think when someone actually does something crazy like that – like if I can be so bold to say – like what I am doing!

Verse 20 … “When Jesus saw their faith” …

Though this was a revival meeting to see people come to Jesus, I was brought to tears during this message for different reasons. I was simply whispering in my head – “Lord Jesus, I pray you are seeing my faith right now”!

Ken had 3 main points and I close with that and the lyrics of a song that was played tonight!

#1 FAITH ALWAYS GETS GOD’S ATTENTION!

#2 FAITH DOES THE UNEXPECTED!

#3 FAITH CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES TELL YA!

Wow! Wow! Wow!

I am choked-up just writing this right now – because I am in an RV all alone, away from my family and my comfort zone for a month trying to raise $16M for Eastern Canada!

Then the song …

I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandoned

In awe of the One who gave it all

I’ll stand my soul Lord to You surrendered

All I am is Yours!!!!

I don’t want to just sing it anymore. I want my life to show it!

  2. Hey Rick, great to be keeping up with you through the blog. I really admire your faith and hope that if God ever calls me to do something radical I can respond like you. Keep fighting the good fight of faith.

  3. Thanks so much again Ry and Michele (and Erin who was not able to post her comments on the blog) for all your great encouragement. I have to tell you the truth. Sometimes right in the midst of a great step of faith, it's actually not all that fun or very comfortable. I mean I am enjoying being with the Lord and following His lead on this trip. But I am also "anxious" about how it will all turn out. But I know what Scriptures says about "not being anxious about anything" ...
